The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has strongly rejected allegations that political interference has disrupted the ongoing process to appoint a new Vice-Chancellor.
In an official statement issued by management, the university described reports circulating on some media platforms and social media as “false” and “misleading,” insisting that the selection process remains on course and is being conducted according to laid-down procedures.
The statement comes amid growing speculation that external political pressure had stalled the work of the University Council Search Committee responsible for selecting the institution’s next chief executive officer.
However, KNUST management maintained that the process has been transparent, professional, and free from any outside influence.
According to the university, no individual or group has attempted to manipulate or compromise the credibility of the exercise at any stage.
“The search for a new Vice-Chancellor, being undertaken by the University Council Search Committee, is proceeding smoothly, professionally, and in full compliance with the statutes and established procedures governing the University,” the statement noted.
Management further stressed that the University Council remains committed to maintaining fairness, credibility, transparency, and institutional integrity throughout the process.
The university also urged students, alumni, stakeholders, the media, and the general public to ignore the reports alleging political interference, describing them as baseless.
KNUST assured the public that an official announcement regarding the outcome of the Vice-Chancellor selection process will be made once the committee completes its work.
