The Assembly Member for the Kpodzivi Electoral Area in the Akatsi South Municipal Assembly, Mr Kennedy Biedo, has issued a seven-day ultimatum for the removal of cattle allegedly causing destruction to farmlands in the area.
The directive targets Mr Zikpitor David Honu and Mr Obey Honu, who are said to have brought cattle into Kpodzivi without the approval of traditional authorities.
Mr Biedo said the decision was taken following consultations with the local chief, Torgbi Horsu III, opinion leaders, and residents who have raised concerns over widespread crop destruction.
According to him, the animals have been grazing on community farmlands, damaging crops and threatening the livelihoods of farmers in Kpodzivi and surrounding communities.
He noted that the situation reflects a broader national concern, where unchecked cattle grazing continues to create tensions between herders and farming communities and poses risks to food security.
Mr Biedo warned that continued destruction of farms was heightening anxiety among residents and could escalate into further conflict if not urgently addressed.
He therefore instructed the cattle owners to remove their livestock within seven days or face consequences.
The Assembly Member appealed for calm and cooperation from all parties, stressing the need to protect farmlands and maintain peaceful coexistence in the community.
He reaffirmed that local authorities remain committed to safeguarding the interests of farmers while ensuring order and stability in Kpodzivi.
