Former President John Agyekum Kufuor has reminded members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) that the strength of the party lies in unity and goodwill, not just in physical infrastructure.
Speaking at the commissioning of the Bantama Constituency office on Friday, September 19, 2025, Mr. Kufuor stressed that reconciliation and forgiveness among party members were essential if the NPP is to remain strong and relevant.
“The building is nice, but if the thoughts inside are not good, then what is the use? Things will never work,” he said. “Unity is important. If you have people you can speak to and help change their minds, do so.”
The Bantama office, built by the area’s Member of Parliament, Francis Asenso-Boakye, was hailed by the former President as a valuable addition. However, he cautioned that such projects would only have meaning if they were matched by a sincere commitment to collective progress.
According to Mr. Kufuor, the true essence of political parties is not found in their physical assets but in their ability to foster trust, build bridges, and prepare themselves to govern effectively.
Party insiders say his remarks come at a time when internal cohesion will be crucial for the NPP as it prepares for the upcoming elections.
