In a bold defense of Ga royal legitimacy, the Queen Mother of Kwabenya, Naa Korkoi Dugbatey II, has openly accused Gbese Mantse, Nii Ayi Bonte II, of stoking division within the Ga State by challenging the authority of the reigning Ga Mantse, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II.
Addressing a press conference in Kwabenya earlier today, Naa Korkoi Dugbatey II called on traditional authorities and the general public to resist what she described as “deliberate attempts to destabilize the Ga Kingdom.”
She asserted, “The Ga State must not allow internal conflicts to weaken our heritage. King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II remains the only legitimate occupant of the Ga Mantse Stool, and we will not sit idly by as his reign is questioned.”
Her comments come amid a renewed flare-up in the long-standing leadership dispute within the Ga Traditional Council—an issue that has seen rival factions clash over succession rights for years.
By directly pointing fingers at Nii Ayi Bonte II, the Queen Mother has escalated tensions, framing the controversy not just as a legal or traditional question but as a threat to the unity of the Ga people.
This latest twist in the chieftaincy saga signals a potential showdown between key traditional authorities as the Ga State braces for more deliberations over its leadership.
