Ghana international Kwasi Sibo has begun a new chapter in his club career after completing a move to Libyan champions Al-Swehly from Spanish side Real Oviedo.
The 28-year-old midfielder has signed a three-year contract with the Libyan club, with an option for an additional year.
Al-Swehly officially announced the signing through a video introducing Sibo as its latest acquisition as the club strengthens its squad ahead of the new campaign.
Sibo’s transfer to Libya comes after a proposed move to Turkish Super Lig side Gençlerbirliği fell through.
He will now turn his attention to Al-Swehly’s continental ambitions, with the Libyan champions set to face Zanzibar-based KVZ in the preliminary round of the CAF Champions League.
Sibo arrives at the club following an impressive international campaign with Ghana at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The midfielder featured in all four matches played by the Black Stars, accumulating 249 minutes during the tournament.
He started Ghana’s goalless draw against England and also featured in the group-stage encounters against Panama, Croatia and Colombia.
His arrival is expected to strengthen Al-Swehly’s midfield as the club seeks to make an impact in African club competition.
Reports have put the value of the transfer at about $10 million, with the move reportedly forming part of efforts to attract established African players to the Libyan league.
Sibo will be expected to play a key role as Al-Swehly pursue domestic success while also attempting to advance beyond the early stages of the CAF Champions League.
