During his Thank-You tour in the Ahafo Region on May 31, President John Dramani Mahama announced plans to transform select nursing and midwifery colleges nationwide into degree-awarding institutions. This initiative aims to elevate the quality of health training and bolster Ghana’s healthcare system by enhancing professional qualifications for nurses and midwives.
The President also reiterated the government’s focus on expanding tertiary education infrastructure, particularly in underserved areas. Highlighting a landmark development, Mahama revealed that the NDC government will establish a new university in the Ahafo Region dedicated to world-class programs in agriculture, natural resources, and health sciences.
In addition to upgrading health training institutions, Mahama assured that the ongoing distribution of buses to senior high schools and health colleges would continue. This effort seeks to alleviate transportation challenges and support smooth academic operations across the country.
By prioritizing educational infrastructure and professional training, the President’s administration aims to strengthen Ghana’s health sector and broaden access to quality tertiary education in key regions.
