President John Dramani Mahama has nominated public finance expert Pamela Graham for the position of Auditor-General, in a move aimed at strengthening oversight and restoring confidence in Ghana’s public financial management system.
The nomination, submitted through the Secretary to the President, is currently awaiting consultation with the Council of State as required under Article 70(1)(b) of the 1992 Constitution.
Sources close to the Presidency indicate that the decision forms part of a broader strategy to reinforce governance institutions and enhance transparency in the management of public funds.
Pamela Graham is widely regarded as an experienced professional in public financial management and auditing, with a track record of institutional leadership and integrity.
If approved, she will assume responsibility for auditing public accounts and ensuring compliance with financial regulations across state institutions—one of the most critical roles in Ghana’s accountability framework.
Her appointment would see her succeed Johnson Akuamoah Asiedu, who has served as Auditor-General since September 2021.
The Council of State is expected to review the nomination in the coming days and advise the President accordingly.
