Ghanaian rapper Medikal has congratulated Black Sherif following his win as Artiste of the Year at the 2026 Telecel Ghana Music Awards, describing the achievement as well-earned after a competitive year in the industry.
Speaking on Prime Time on Joy Prime with George Quaye and DJ Merqury Quaye, Medikal said he had no doubts about Black Sherif’s success, stressing that all nominees in the category had strong cases based on their output over the past year.
“Each and every one nominated in that category equally deserved to win,” he said.
Medikal expressed personal joy over Black Sherif’s triumph, referring to him as a close colleague and acknowledging his growth in the music industry since his early days.
“Blacko is somebody from the start of his career, and I respect his hustle,” he stated.
He added that the award felt like a shared victory, given their relationship within the industry.
“To see my brother win, it’s almost as if myself picking up the plaque,” he said.
The rapper also praised Black Sherif’s achievements over the year, highlighting his music releases, album and concert performances as key factors that strengthened his award campaign.
“He put out dope songs, a dope album and a dope concert,” Medikal noted.
Black Sherif secured the top honour ahead of strong contenders, including Medikal and Wendy Shay, to emerge Artiste of the Year at the ceremony.
