Member of Parliament for Asawase and Minister for the Interior, Alhaji Muntaka Mubarak, has pledged additional investment in education infrastructure and teacher welfare as part of efforts to improve learning conditions in the constituency.
He said providing communities with tangible development projects remained a key responsibility of elected representatives and promised to continue working to ensure that Asawase received its fair share of development.
Alhaji Muntaka made the commitment during the inauguration of new classroom facilities at Asokore Mampong R/C Primary and New Aboabo M/A Primary (Middle B) in the constituency.
The projects, financed through the District Assembly Common Fund, comprise a six-unit classroom block at Asokore Mampong R/C Primary, a three-unit classroom block for the school’s Kindergarten section and another six-unit block at New Aboabo M/A Primary.
The new facilities are expected to ease pressure on existing classrooms and provide pupils and teachers with a more suitable environment for effective teaching and learning.
Alhaji Muntaka said his commitment to education extended beyond the provision of physical infrastructure, stressing the need to recognise and support teachers who play a central role in improving academic outcomes.
He announced plans to introduce an award scheme to honour teachers in Asokore Mampong who demonstrate exceptional dedication to their work and contribute significantly to improved academic performance.
The MP also pledged to provide teachers with appropriate chairs and tables, noting that decent working conditions were essential to enabling educators to perform their duties effectively.
He said improving the welfare of teachers would complement investments in school infrastructure and contribute to creating an environment in which both teachers and pupils could thrive.
Beyond the classroom projects, Alhaji Muntaka disclosed that funding had been secured for the construction of a new Municipal Education Office, which he said would further strengthen the administration of education in the area.
He also announced plans to provide Asokore Mampong R/C Primary with an ultramodern playground to support pupils’ physical development and create a more complete school environment.
The MP said the various interventions formed part of his broader commitment to ensuring that development in the constituency translated into visible and lasting benefits for residents.
The inauguration was attended by the Municipal Chief Executive, Mr Ben Abdullah Alhassan, as well as traditional and religious leaders and other stakeholders.
The completion of the classroom blocks brings additional space to schools that have faced pressure from growing enrolment, while the planned interventions are expected to further improve the educational environment across the constituency.
