Ningo: Police Accepts Withdrawal Letter for Murder, Assault Cases

…Complacent In Prosecuting Suspect To Court, Royal Family Seeks Mahama Intervention

Questions have been raised over the handling of a number of reported assault and alleged murder cases involving Nene Nartey Asamoah in Ningo, with family members expressing concern that some of the complaints have not been processed before the courts.

According to information and documents made available, several complaints have been lodged at the Ningo and Prampram Police Stations in connection with alleged attacks and other serious incidents involving persons associated with Nene Asamoah.

The complainants claim that, despite the seriousness of some of the allegations, no arrests have been made and the cases have not proceeded to court.

They further allege that, in some instances, the police advised the parties to resolve the matters within the family rather than pursuing them through the criminal justice process.

One of the incidents cited involved the movement of a deceased person’s body from the morgue to the family house.

According to the account, when the mourners reached the entrance of the family house, a 4×4 Toyota Tundra allegedly crossed the hearse, preventing it from entering the premises.

The family alleges that a man identified as Bismark Nuetey, said to be associated with the camp of the alleged chief, subsequently assaulted Amos Addo and allegedly pointed a gun at him while threatening to shoot him.

The matter was reportedly reported to the police, but the family says no action was taken against the alleged perpetrator.

The complainants have questioned why cases involving allegations as serious as murder and assault would allegedly be referred for family settlement instead of being subjected to the normal criminal justice process.

They argue that where criminal offences are alleged, the appropriate investigative and prosecutorial procedures should be followed.

The family also alleges that Nene Asamoah insulted the Gborbu Wulomo in the presence of senior police officers, further deepening tensions surrounding the dispute.

Dispute over Dankyira family house

The controversy has also extended to the Dankyira family house at Ningo, with members of the family alleging that there has been a sustained attempt by Nene Asamoah to demolish the property.

The Alipue, Chenchenma and Ashalley Botwe Gates are said to have opposed any move to demolish the family house.

In a letter dated September 30, 2026, lawyers representing the various Gates reportedly called on Nene Asamoah to abandon any plans to demolish the property.

Documents cited by the family indicate that the Dankyira family house was constructed through collective contributions from members of the Dankyira clan drawn from Asuom, Apoli, Offin, Dokrokyewah, Old Ningo, Chilantah, Kobodorh, Asare Botweh, Apenkwa, Ashiaman, Okuenyah, Team, Lagos Town, Kasoa and Lensunor.

Members of the family say the collective nature of the project makes any unilateral decision to demolish the house particularly contentious.

They contend that the property belongs to the wider Dankyira family and not to an individual, and therefore any decision concerning its future should involve the relevant family members and Gates.

Questions over authority

The dispute has also triggered questions among some family members about Nene Asamoah’s authority and legitimacy in relation to the position he claims to occupy.

Some members argue that he has no authority over them and have challenged the basis of his claim to exercise control over the family and its property

The allegations, however, remain matters of dispute, and the claims concerning the reported assaults, threats, attempted demolition and the conduct of the police would require confirmation from the relevant authorities and the persons accused.

The development has heightened tensions within the Dankyira family, with affected members calling for the issues to be addressed through the appropriate legal and traditional channels rather than allowing the dispute to escalate further.

According to information and documents made available to the family, several complaints have been lodged at the Ningo and Prampram Police Stations over alleged attacks, threats and other serious incidents involving persons associated with Nene Asamoah.

Persons like Larseh Joshua, Addo, Isaac Tetteh Kwadwo have all suffered attacked from Nene Asamoah and have all reported the various incidents at the Old Ningo police station. Other persons including Nii Akweh, Atteh Chenchenmah, Larseh Emmanuel, Arkuteeye, Sernor Kwao Stephen and Pastor Enoch Mensah have allegedly received death threats from the said chief. All these cases were reported at Prampram police station but nothing has been done to ensure justice is served.

The complainants allege that despite the seriousness of some of the allegations, suspects have not been processed before court and that, in some instances, police officers advised the parties to resolve the matters within the family.

The family says the approach has heightened tensions and created concerns about whether victims and complainants can obtain justice through the normal legal process.

The family further alleges that on several occasions when Happy Asamoah, also known as Nene Nartey Asamoah, was invited to the police station, he allegedly insulted and threatened complainants in the presence of the police commander and other officers.

The family also claims that an invitation extended to him by the Gborbu Wulomo Shitse, described by the family as the overlord of the Ga-Dangbe Kingdom, was disregarded, with further alleged insults directed at the traditional authority.

The allegations have prompted calls for the police hierarchy to clarify how such incidents have been handled and whether formal investigations have been opened into the reported threats and alleged assaults.

The family is questioning why allegations involving murder, assault and threats would allegedly be referred for family settlement instead of being subjected to investigation and, where the evidence supports it, prosecution.

It is also alleging that police officers have at times attempted to negotiate settlements between the parties rather than processing the cases before court.

He has also been accused of using land guards to threaten family members in the house  and in the Kopodor village.

Reliable information is that somewhere in July this year, an Okada rider was gruesomely murdered by landguards believed to be from his camp after putting him through severe beatings.

Later when other Okada riders heard of the incident and came to Kopodor to inquire about what the issues were, they were also attacked creating insecurity in the area.
