Ghanaian forward Joseph Paintsil was among the scorers as LA Galaxy were held to a 1-1 draw by Houston Dynamo in a tightly contested MLS encounter at Dignity Health Sports Park on Saturday night.
Paintsil opened the scoring in the 30th minute with a composed finish after a swift attacking move, marking his third goal of the season as he continues his steady contribution to the Galaxy attack.
Houston responded quickly through Guilherme Santos, who levelled the match in the 41st minute after being set up by Jack McGlynn and defender Antônio Carlos, ensuring both sides went into halftime level.
The result extended Houston Dynamo’s unbeaten run in fixtures without a draw-breaking finish, having gone 13 consecutive matches earlier in the season without sharing points.
Both goalkeepers were kept busy throughout the game, with Houston’s Jonathan Bond registering five saves against his former club, while JT Marcinkowski made three stops for LA Galaxy.
Paintsil, who previously scored 10 goals in each of his first two MLS seasons, continues to be a key attacking outlet for the Galaxy as the team looks to build consistency this campaign.
The MLS season will pause for the upcoming World Cup break and resume on July 16.
