Parliament has opened its doors to the public to honour the memory of eight Ghanaians who perished in a recent helicopter crash, offering a space for the nation to collectively grieve and remember their contributions.
Under the direction of Speaker Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, a Book of Condolences has been placed at the foyer of Parliament House, available from Monday to Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Citizens, lawmakers, government officials, and visitors are invited to record their messages of sympathy and solidarity with the bereaved families.
The tragic incident claimed the lives of two serving Ministers of State, alongside respected technocrats and dedicated service personnel, all of whom were hailed for their unwavering service to Ghana.
Parliament described the move as a gesture of national unity in mourning, urging Ghanaians to stand together in this period of loss. “We extend our deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of the departed and pray for comfort and strength during these challenging times,” an official statement said.
This act of remembrance not only honours the fallen but also offers the public an opportunity to reflect on the sacrifices made by those who dedicated their lives to the nation.
