In a strategic move to enhance legislative scrutiny and governance, Parliament has restructured its committees, appointing new leaders to key financial oversight bodies.
One of the most notable changes is the appointment of Abena Osei-Asare as the new Chairperson of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC). Tasked with examining government expenditures, PAC plays a pivotal role in ensuring transparency and accountability in public financial management. Osei-Asare takes over from James Avedzi, the former MP for Ketu North.
In another major shift, Isaac Adongo, MP for Bolgatanga Central, has been selected to chair the Finance Committee. Given his expertise in economic and fiscal matters, Adongo is expected to spearhead discussions on budgetary policies, taxation, and financial regulations.
Additionally, Kwaku Agyemang Kwarteng has been appointed as the Chairman of the Budget Committee, a body responsible for overseeing the preparation and execution of the national budget. His leadership will be critical in ensuring that financial allocations align with Ghana’s development priorities.
These changes underscore Parliament’s commitment to strengthening its oversight functions and reinforcing accountability in the management of public funds.
