The Upper West Regional Police Command has intensified efforts against armed robbery in the Sissala East Municipality following the arrest of two suspects linked to a recent attack on the Tumu-Kowie road.
The suspects, identified as Seidu Muizu, 20, and Salifu Mutada, 22, were picked up during an intelligence-led operation after allegedly robbing three people at gunpoint on May 30, 2026.
According to a statement issued by Assistant Commissioner of Police Peter Kamasa, the suspects made away with an unregistered Apsonic motorbike during the incident.
Police say a follow-up operation also led to the recovery of another unregistered Luojia motorbike, believed to have been used in the robbery operation.
Both motorbikes have been impounded as investigations continue, while the suspects remain in custody assisting police with ongoing inquiries.
Preliminary findings suggest the duo may be connected to a series of robberies that have recently unsettled residents in Tumu and surrounding communities.
The police have since expanded their investigations to determine whether the suspects are linked to other criminal activities reported in the municipality.
Authorities are also working to retrieve the firearm allegedly used during the robbery as part of efforts to dismantle any wider criminal network.
The Upper West Regional Police Command commended residents for supporting law enforcement operations and encouraged continued cooperation through the sharing of timely and credible information to help maintain peace and security in the area.
