An aspirant for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Greater Accra Regional Organiser position, Emmanuel Austin Anim, popularly known as “El Supremo”, has pledged to restore trust between the party’s leadership and its grassroots supporters, insisting that rebuilding internal relationships is key to the party’s comeback in 2028.
Speaking on the Asaase Breakfast Show on Tuesday, June 30, Anim argued that the NPP’s defeat in the 2024 general election was largely due to internal disconnect rather than a loss of public confidence.
According to him, findings from research conducted by his campaign team indicated that many loyal party supporters deliberately stayed away from the polls because they felt neglected and unappreciated by party leaders.
He explained that many grassroots members believed some officials became distant and inaccessible after assuming office, creating a sense of exclusion among the party’s base.
Anim stressed that if elected Regional Organiser, his immediate priority would be to reconnect the leadership with supporters across Greater Accra through regular engagement and open communication.
He said party executives must remain visible and accessible throughout the electoral cycle instead of limiting interactions with members to election periods.
Emphasising the importance of grassroots support, Anim noted that no political party could succeed without the commitment of its polling station executives and loyal supporters.
As part of his vision, he pledged to visit constituencies regularly and hold monthly engagements with polling station executives to strengthen relationships and keep members actively involved in the party’s activities.
He further urged party leaders to ensure members always feel valued, saying a sense of belonging would be crucial to rebuilding confidence and positioning the NPP strongly ahead of the 2028 general elections.
