Carlos Queiroz has called for sacrifice, discipline, and unity as the Ghana national football team began preparations in Cardiff for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The Black Stars opened camp on Monday at Dragon Park with 13 players taking part in the first training session ahead of next week’s international friendly against Wales national football team.
Players already in camp include Jordan Ayew, Ernest Nuamah, Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, and Brandon Thomas-Asante, with the remaining squad members expected to join camp on Tuesday.
The team is expected to spend a week training in Cardiff before taking on Wales on June 2 as part of preparations for the World Cup in the United States.
Queiroz is also expected to use the camping period to assess his players before naming his final 26-man squad for the tournament ahead of FIFA’s June 1 deadline.
In an open message to supporters, the Portuguese tactician described Ghana’s World Cup journey as a demanding mission that would require total commitment from both players and fans.
“We know the price that must be paid — sacrifice, discipline, relentless effort and total dedication if we are to honour the dreams and expectations of the people of Ghana,” he stated.
Ghana have been drawn in Group L alongside Panama national football team, England national football team, and Croatia national football team.
The Black Stars will open their campaign against Panama on June 17 in Toronto before facing England and Croatia in subsequent group matches.
