Young footballers in the Volta Region will have a rare opportunity to attract the attention of international scouts when African Talent Elite, a football development organisation affiliated with Spanish club Real Sociedad, stages a two-day scouting tournament at Anseco Park in the Anloga District.
The event, scheduled for June 20-21 under the theme “Showcase Your Talent,” is expected to bring together promising players in the Under-15 and Under-17 categories for assessment by professional scouts and technical experts.
Organiser Mr. Theophilus Mensah said the initiative is aimed at identifying and nurturing young football talents at an early stage, providing them with opportunities that could eventually lead to careers in professional football.
According to him, registration for the tournament is free, although participants will pay a GHS50 form fee to cover administrative costs associated with the exercise.
He noted that the partnership with Real Sociedad enhances the credibility of the programme and offers talented players access to a wider football development network.
Mr. Mensah explained that players who excel during the tournament could be considered for further scouting opportunities through African Talent Elite’s international partnerships, including links with Real Sociedad and other football clubs.
“The objective is to discover talent early and provide the exposure, training and mentorship needed to help young players reach their full potential,” he said.
Football stakeholders in the Anloga District have welcomed the initiative, describing it as an important platform for talented young players who often struggle to gain visibility before recognised scouts and clubs.
They said the tournament could help bridge a longstanding gap in Ghana’s football development structure by creating direct pathways between grassroots football and professional opportunities.
Organisers have urged parents, guardians, coaches and community football clubs to register eligible players for the tournament. Participants are also required to present birth certificates or national identification cards to verify their ages.
The initiative reflects the growing interest of European clubs and football development organisations in establishing talent identification networks across Africa, where many young players continue to emerge with significant potential.
Interested players, parents and coaches can obtain further information and registration details by contacting the organisers on 0593154484. Organisers say available slots are limited and expected to be filled before the tournament begins.
