Residents in the Oti Region are beginning to feel a sense of economic relief, attributing recent financial improvements to the leadership of President John Dramani Mahama and his National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration.
As the Ghanaian cedi gains ground against the US dollar—currently trading at approximately GHS 12.11—many local businesses report a noticeable easing in operational costs. The recent dip in fuel prices, estimated at an 18 percent reduction, has further bolstered optimism about the nation’s economic direction under Mahama’s return to power.
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency, Mr. Tawia Asare, a businessman in Kete-Krachi, highlighted the positive shift in economic conditions. “Business was becoming unsustainable due to the high exchange rate, but now with the cedi’s appreciation, we’re experiencing some relief,” he said. “We are grateful to President Mahama and the NDC for stabilising the economy.”
Mr. Yakubu Mohammed, another resident, emphasized the impact of lower fuel costs. “Fuel price reductions are directly easing our daily burdens,” he noted, praising the rapid progress under what he described as Mahama’s “Reset Agenda.”
Other residents echoed similar sentiments, urging the administration to stay the course in addressing economic challenges and building on the early gains. Many expressed hope that continued reforms and interventions would translate into lasting relief for the average Ghanaian.
