Three hundred students from the Tano South Constituency in the Ahafo Region who have gained admission to various Senior High Schools (SHSs) have received educational items from their Member of Parliament, Mr Charles Asiedu.
The beneficiaries received mattresses, chop boxes, exercise books and other learning materials to support them as they prepare to begin their secondary education.
Presenting the items at a ceremony in Bechem, Mr Asiedu said the initiative was intended to reduce the financial pressure on parents and guardians following the admission of their children and wards to SHSs.
He said the cost of preparing children for secondary education could place a significant burden on families, particularly at the beginning of the academic year, making such support necessary.
Mr Asiedu reiterated his commitment to education, describing it as a key priority in his development agenda for the constituency.
He pledged to continue supporting initiatives aimed at improving educational outcomes and creating better opportunities for students in Tano South.
As part of efforts to improve academic performance, the MP also disclosed that he was implementing a teachers’ award scheme to recognise and motivate hardworking teachers in the constituency.
He said the scheme was intended to encourage teachers to sustain their efforts and contribute to improved academic performance among students.
Mr Asiedu urged the beneficiaries to make effective use of the support provided and remain disciplined and focused throughout their studies.
He encouraged them to work hard and strive for academic excellence as they entered a new phase of their education.
