The Teachers and Educational Workers’ Union (TEWU) under Ghana’s Trades Union Congress (TUC) has demanded an urgent meeting with the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission to finalize the Conditions of Service for its members.
In a letter dated May 26, 2025, TEWU General Secretary King James Azortibah expressed growing frustration over stalled negotiations that have delayed the payment of agreed allowances to workers across public universities, technical universities, the Ghana Education Service, and cultural institutions including the Ghana Museums and Monuments Board and the Ghana Library Authority.
The union cautioned that unless talks resume by May 31, 2025, it will advise members to withdraw their services, signaling a potential strike that could disrupt education and cultural sectors nationwide.
TEWU’s firm stance underscores the urgency to resolve the impasse and address the welfare concerns of its diverse membership.
