Uganda Airlines is set to add Accra to its international network, opening a new direct air connection between West and East Africa from October 27, 2026.
The airline will commence direct flights between Entebbe and Accra as part of efforts to improve connectivity and facilitate the movement of people and businesses across the continent.
A delegation from Uganda National Airlines Company Limited, led by its Manager for Government Relations and Routes Coordination, Deo Nyanzi, announced the planned operations during a courtesy call on the Minister for Transport, Joseph Bukari Nikpe.
The new route will provide passengers travelling between Ghana and Uganda with an alternative to connecting through other aviation hubs.
It is also expected to strengthen links between the two regions by making travel more convenient for business executives, traders, investors and tourists.
Mr Nikpe welcomed the development and called for stronger air connections among African countries to make travel across the continent safer, easier, more convenient and affordable.
The Entebbe-Accra service comes as African countries seek to deepen economic integration and expand intra-African trade under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
Improved air links are considered important to that process because they facilitate the movement of people, services, investment and business expertise between markets.
For Ghana, the entry of Uganda Airlines will add another international carrier and provide travellers with an additional direct option for accessing East Africa.
For Uganda, Accra offers a direct connection to a major West African commercial and aviation market, creating opportunities for increased business, tourism and other economic exchanges.
The new service is therefore expected to provide an additional bridge between the two regions as Ghana and Uganda pursue stronger economic and people-to-people ties.
