The Upper West Regional Police Command has arrested four suspects in connection with two armed robbery cases in the Wa West District, following intelligence-led operations that targeted criminal activity along the Ga-Wechiau road.
The suspects—Iddrisu Sidibey, Abdulai Bandey, Suleman Issah Zibrim, and Abdul Rahman Abdulai—allegedly carried out attacks between the Gadi and Chogsia communities. Police said Abdul Rahman Abdulai supplied the firearm used in the robberies and assisted in recovering it from a bush.
The incidents involved victims Thomas Dormatey, a teacher, who was robbed of GH₵2,600 and shot in the leg on February 28, and Issah Ibrahim, who lost GH₵2,750 and a mobile phone during an attack on March 8. Police reports indicate that the suspects, masked and armed with firearms and machetes, ambushed victims from nearby bushes.
A search of the suspects led to the recovery of two cutlasses and four mobile phones, now retained as exhibits for ongoing investigations. The suspects have been remanded in police custody by the Wa District Magistrate Court, with a reappearance scheduled for March 26, 2026.
The Police Command confirmed that two other accomplices, identified as Adil and Sambo, remain at large, and assured residents of its continued commitment to safeguarding communities in the region.
