Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has commenced a three-week medical leave as of April 7, following advice from her medical team. This decision comes after a recent health setback and expert recommendations for further treatment.
A source close to the Presidency confirmed that the Vice President’s medical leave is based on the advice of her doctor. It follows her recent visit to the University of Ghana Medical Centre on March 29 after a sudden illness that occurred the previous day, March 28.
In a statement issued by Presidential Spokesman, Mr. Felix Kwakye Ofosu, on March 30, it was revealed that after receiving initial treatment, the Vice President would be seeking additional medical care abroad, in line with expert medical guidance.
Professor Opoku-Agyemang’s medical leave has prompted well-wishes from across the country as she seeks to recover fully. The public is reassured that her health and well-being are of utmost priority, and the necessary steps are being taken to ensure her swift recovery.
The Vice President’s absence during this period will be closely monitored, with the Ghanaian government continuing its functions as usual.
