Ho – Volta Regional Minister, Mr. James Gunu, has assured traditional leaders of committed government support for the socio-economic development of the Tongu area during a courtesy visit by the Tongu Chiefs Union Council.
The delegation, led by Togbega Kodzi Zoga II, President of the Council, congratulated Mr. Gunu on his appointment and highlighted pressing development challenges, including poor road networks, limited access to potable water, and the need for expanded healthcare infrastructure.
Togbega Kodzi Zoga II further proposed the conversion of the E-Block facility, built during former President John Dramani Mahama’s tenure, into a Tongu Training College to boost human capital development in the area.
In response, Mr. Gunu commended the chiefs for their leadership and emphasized the government’s commitment to addressing local development needs. He outlined ongoing initiatives such as the Volta Economic Corridor Project under the 24-Hour Economy policy and the expansion of irrigation farming, aimed at improving livelihoods and accelerating economic growth across the region.
The meeting underscores a strengthened partnership between traditional authorities and government in tackling developmental gaps and fostering regional prosperity.
