The Ghana Police Service has arrested a woman accused of threatening John Dramani Mahama in videos circulated on social media.
The suspect, identified as Mahama Aminat, also known as Akosua Serwaa Minat, was picked up by the Inspector-General of Police’s Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team (CVET) over alleged offensive conduct and threats against the President.
According to a police statement, the suspect was captured in TikTok videos allegedly making insulting remarks about President Mahama while also inciting others to attack him and his wife.
Police said a joint operation involving the CVET and the Surveillance Unit of the National Operations Department led to her arrest on May 20, 2026, at Sekyere Zongo in the Sekyere Kumawu District.
The operation followed the circulation of the videos online on May 19.
Authorities disclosed that the suspect remains in police custody and is expected to be arraigned before court.
The arrest comes amid increasing concerns over the use of social media platforms to spread threats, incitement and offensive content targeting public officials.
