Women in Leadership International (WILI) marked a decade of empowering women and girls in Ghana with a fundraising and networking event aimed at sustaining scholarships, health outreach, and leadership development programmes.
The event, held in conjunction with International Women’s Day, brought together women from diverse sectors to reflect on WILI’s achievements and strategize for the organisation’s next phase of impact. Participants, dressed in WILI’s signature orange and white, engaged in discussions on leadership, mentorship, and collaborative initiatives.
Speaking at the event, Mrs. Mercy Osei Konadu Hammah, Country Director of WILI, highlighted the organisation’s decade-long efforts to provide scholarships to vulnerable yet brilliant girls, support health initiatives including cancer care, and promote women’s leadership across communities. She also outlined plans to expand programmes and reach more beneficiaries in the coming years.
The fundraiser, anchored on the theme “Give to Gain,” underscored the value of collective investment among women to drive sustainable growth and empowerment. Proceeds will support ongoing initiatives and pave the way for a grand Gala and Awards event to honour women making significant contributions to leadership and community development.
Guest speaker Madam Georgina Efua Sagoe, a Social Worker at the Central Adoption Authority, called on the organisation to uphold domestic and international regulatory standards, while Rev Dr. Nanayaa Owusu-Prempeh, Founder and President-General of WILI, urged members to strengthen collaboration and maintain momentum in empowering women to lead with purpose.
Over the past 10 years, WILI Ghana has grown into a network of more than 300 members, fostering mentorship, advocacy, and community impact. The organisation continues to position itself as a catalyst for confident, capable, and community-focused women leaders in Ghana.
