The Chief of Yabiw in the Shama Municipality, Nana Appiah Asankoma Katakranka IV, has appealed to residents to remain united as he intensifies efforts to attract development projects to the community.
He said sustained peace and cooperation among community members remain essential if Yabiw is to address its long-standing infrastructural challenges and achieve meaningful progress.
Speaking in an interview in the community, the chief expressed concern about the poor state of basic amenities, noting that Yabiw continues to struggle with inadequate infrastructure.
According to him, the community lacks key facilities such as good roads, a proper market, adequate sanitation infrastructure, reliable water supply, a lorry station, and sufficient electricity coverage. He also highlighted challenges affecting the local school.
“Our community lacks a lot of things. We do not have good roads, a market, only one toilet facility, and even our school is facing infrastructural challenges,” Nana Katakranka IV said, stressing the urgent need for collective action.
He explained that addressing these gaps would require collaboration between the community, the Municipal Assembly, and development partners, while also emphasising the role of residents in maintaining peace and unity.
The chief assured that he would engage relevant authorities and lobby for inclusion of Yabiw in ongoing and future development projects within the Shama Municipality.
“As the chief of this community, I will work closely with the necessary institutions to bring development here, but we as a people must also unite and live in peace and harmony for us to realise this dream,” he added.
He reaffirmed his commitment to advocating for improved living conditions and ensuring that Yabiw receives its fair share of national development interventions.
