Former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta has called for an expedited resolution to the ongoing investigation by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), urging an early engagement with his legal team before the proposed June meeting.
In a letter through his lawyers, Mr. Ofori-Atta expressed his willingness to cooperate with the investigation and emphasized the importance of addressing the allegations swiftly.
“I pray that the Special Prosecutor will agree to meet with my legal team so we can respond to his investigation, on the now five cases, in order to resolve the situation expeditiously, and well before the June appointment,” he stated.
The probe centers on financial transactions related to the Strategic Mobilisation-GRA contract, the termination of the ECG-BXC contract, payments linked to the National Cathedral, the procurement of ambulances, and the use of the Tax Refund Account.
Mr. Ofori-Atta’s push for an early engagement follows the OSP’s recent decision to remove him from its wanted list, a move that signaled a shift in the high-profile case.
He also acknowledged Parliament’s apology for the security raid on his home, which was widely criticized.
By seeking a prompt resolution, the former minister aims to clear his name and address concerns surrounding his tenure at the Finance Ministry.
His request now awaits a response from the Special Prosecutor’s office.
