Ghana and Germany are set to strengthen their longstanding diplomatic and economic partnership as German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier arrives in Accra for a three-day State Visit.
The visit, described by Ghana’s Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa as “a moment of renewed friendship and cooperation,” marks an important step in deepening ties between the two nations.
“Ghana is absolutely elated to host the German President on a three-day State Visit,” Mr. Ablakwa said. “The inseparable bond between Ghana and Germany is about to get even stronger and more beneficial to the citizens of our two countries.”
President Steinmeier is expected to engage in a series of high-level activities, including a ceremonial Guard of Honour at the Jubilee House, a private meeting with President John Dramani Mahama, and bilateral talks focusing on trade, investment, technology, and development cooperation.
The visit will also include a State Luncheon hosted in his honour, a symbolic wreath-laying ceremony at the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, and an interaction with young Ghanaian IT innovators — signaling a shared commitment to youth empowerment and technological advancement.
The German President will round off his visit with a reception at the residence of the German Ambassador, underscoring the strong diplomatic and people-to-people connections between the two nations.
Observers say the visit reflects Ghana’s growing role as a strategic partner for Germany in West Africa, especially in areas such as renewable energy, digital innovation, and governance.
