The Gomoa Ajumako Traditional Area has taken a major step toward strengthening grassroots leadership with the swearing-in of about 100 royal heads of family tasked to support development initiatives across towns under the Traditional Council.
The ceremony, led by the Paramount Chief, Obrempon Nyanful Krampah XI, has been described by divisional chiefs, sub-chiefs, queen mothers and other members of the council as a historic event — the first of its kind in the traditional area.
Addressing the newly sworn-in family heads, the Paramount Chief urged them to play active roles in resolving internal family disputes and litigation, stressing that peace and unity were essential for the area’s development.
He encouraged them to mobilise their people to embark on self-help development projects such as the construction of educational facilities, provision of portable water, healthcare infrastructure and other social amenities that would improve living conditions in their communities.
According to him, the initiative forms part of efforts to strengthen traditional governance and accelerate socio-economic progress in the area. He indicated that each town under the council should have at least seven chiefs or more drawn from different families to assist the Odikro in managing local affairs.
Obrempon Nyanful Krampah XI also directed the newly sworn-in family heads to install chiefs from their respective families and present them before him by March 31, 2026. He further urged them to allocate lands to support the work of the chiefs and enable them to function effectively.
Some of the family heads and divisional chiefs who spoke after the event commended the Paramount Chief for what they described as a visionary move that would reinforce unity and strengthen the chieftaincy institution in the area.
They expressed confidence that the directive to install family chiefs would enhance cooperation between families and the Traditional Council, ultimately contributing to the development of communities within the traditional area.
