Documents to be attached to motion for parliamentary inquiry
The Minority in Parliament on Sunday put on display a series of documents it says prove that diplomatic and service passports were issued to people who did not qualify for them.
The documents, labelled “SAJ 1” to “SAJ 10”, fall into three groups.
Approval letters. Five letters issued in the name of the Minister for Foreign Affairs, dated 1 June, 4 June, 5 June, 6 August and 7 August 2026. They approve passports for supposed officials of the Greater Accra Regional Coordinating Council, the Akrofuom District Assembly, the Ghana TVET Service, NADMO and the Fisheries Commission. The first was signed by the Chief Director, Ambassador Khadija Iddrisu, on behalf of the Minister.
Passports.
Copies of service passports issued on the basis of the claimed positions. To protect the holders, the Minority showed only redacted biodata pages. It said holders include natives of Dormaa who are neither civil nor public servants.
Payment records. GCB Bank cash deposit receipts and mobile money records for payments to the alleged agent, Bright Yeboah Owusu. The persons who provided them say they paid for passports and travel arrangements.
“Ladies and Gentlemen, when you put these documents together, the questions become impossible to ignore,” Hon. Abu Jinapor said.
The Minority said it had tried to bring the material before Parliament last week. The Rt. Hon. Speaker directed it to follow the proper procedure.
It will now file a motion with all the documents attached, so that the passport copies are available to Parliament for examination.
The Minority said these are “only some” of the records it holds.
