Star Oil, one of Ghana’s leading oil marketing companies, has clarified that recent challenges affecting fuel lifting are linked to a technical issue with the Ghana Revenue Authority’s Integrated Customs Management System (ICUMS), not fuel hoarding.
In a statement issued by the company, Star Oil explained that the ICUMS platform has been down since Saturday, March 7, 2026, making it impossible for oil marketing companies to process and lift petroleum products from the depots.
The company dismissed circulating concerns that fuel suppliers are deliberately hoarding products in anticipation of price changes triggered by tensions and conflicts in the Middle East.
According to Star Oil, the disruption is purely operational and tied to the temporary unavailability of the customs processing system required for petroleum lifting.
The oil marketing company assured customers and the general public that normal operations will resume immediately once the ICUMS platform is restored by the Ghana Revenue Authority.
Star Oil further emphasized its commitment to maintaining a steady supply of fuel and urged the public not to panic, stressing that there is no deliberate attempt to restrict fuel availability on the market.
