The National Democratic Congress (NDC) is intensifying efforts to expand its grassroots presence in the Akatsi South Constituency, as party executives lead an extensive branch-level engagement tour during the ongoing nationwide membership registration exercise.
Led by Constituency Chairman Anthony Kojo Owusu, the team has been visiting branches to monitor the registration process, support local officials, and educate members on the benefits of joining the party. The exercise covers all 132 branches, with over 100 already visited.
Deputy Communications Officer Edem Unity Avege explained that the initiative, which began in February, will continue until the registration deadline on March 30. The focus is on strengthening branch structures, motivating members, and encouraging non-members to participate.
“The tour empowers branches to register more citizens, enhances grassroots representation, and ensures unity ahead of national engagements,” Mr. Avege said.
Mr. Owusu stressed that robust branch structures are essential to the party’s effectiveness, urging sympathisers and well-meaning residents to seize the remaining days to register. He added that new members could play a direct role in constituency development and internal party decision-making.
Party officials expressed satisfaction with the commitment demonstrated by branch executives and members and reiterated that expanding membership is central to consolidating the NDC’s presence at the local level.
This proactive mobilisation underscores the party’s strategy to reinforce its grassroots base and foster active citizen participation ahead of future political activities.
