Development challenges in the farming community of Nyansuaka have once again come to the fore, as chiefs and residents appeal for urgent road rehabilitation to unlock economic opportunities and improve public services.
The appeal was made by Nana Elder Daniel Kwadwo Sekyere during a durbar marking his one-year enstoolment anniversary in the Techiman North District. He stressed that the poor state of roads continues to discourage investment and hinder the delivery of essential services in the area.
According to the chief, many trained professionals, including teachers and health workers, are unwilling to accept postings to the community due to limited accommodation and difficult access conditions. He warned that this situation is slowing down the overall development of Nyansuaka.
Agriculture, which remains the backbone of the local economy, is also being affected. Farmers say they struggle to transport produce to market centres, leading to significant post-harvest losses and reduced incomes.
Beyond economic concerns, residents highlighted growing security and emergency response challenges. The absence of a nearby police post, combined with poor road access, reportedly delays response times during incidents. Community leaders also raised concerns about fire outbreaks, noting the need for a dedicated fire station to improve emergency preparedness.
Water supply challenges were also flagged, with calls for government intervention to address persistent shortages affecting households.
In a related appeal, an opinion leader in the community, Obed Amoah, raised concerns about youth development issues, including rising substance abuse and alcoholism. He called for the establishment of a youth development centre to provide training, guidance, and opportunities for young people.
Residents say improved infrastructure—particularly roads—remains the key to reversing the area’s development stagnation and attracting the investment needed to transform livelihoods in the farming community.
