The New Patriotic Party has moved to reassure its members and the public over the integrity of its dues collection system, firmly rejecting claims of financial misconduct circulating online.
In a statement issued by the Office of the National Treasurer, the party described as “false and malicious” allegations that an unauthorized shortcode was being used to divert party funds.
The controversy emerged after a social media post from a page known as “Wo Boooowa” alleged that members were being asked to pay dues through the shortcode 7142028#, raising concerns about possible irregularities.
However, the party clarified that its only approved shortcode for dues collection remains 920270#, stressing that the number referenced in the viral post has never been part of its financial operations.
According to the NPP, the misinformation appears aimed at disrupting its ongoing dues mobilisation efforts and eroding trust among supporters.
The party has therefore urged members to ignore the claims and rely strictly on official communication channels for accurate information.
Reaffirming its position, the NPP emphasized its commitment to maintaining transparency and accountability in all financial dealings, while cautioning against the spread of unverified information that could undermine party activities.
