The Jasikan Municipal Assembly has secured national recognition for its strong financial governance after ranking ninth among Ghana’s 261 Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) in the 2025 Public Financial Management Compliance League Table (PFMCLT).
The achievement places the Assembly among the country’s top-performing local authorities in public financial management, highlighting its commitment to transparency, accountability and prudent management of public resources.
The ranking was announced at a ceremony organised by the Ministry of Finance in partnership with development partners to assess the compliance of MMDAs with the country’s public financial management laws, regulations and best practices.
The Public Financial Management Compliance League Table measures the performance of assemblies across key governance indicators, including budget credibility, financial reporting, procurement compliance, implementation of audit recommendations, transparency, accountability and adherence to public financial management regulations.
The Jasikan Municipal Assembly’s strong performance reflects significant progress in financial planning, resource management and reporting systems, enabling it to secure a place among the nation’s top 10 assemblies.
Municipal Chief Executive Mr. Parke-Davis Magyigbe and officials of the Assembly attributed the accomplishment to the collective efforts of management, staff, Assembly Members, the area’s Member of Parliament and other stakeholders who have worked together to strengthen financial governance in the municipality.
According to the officials, the recognition validates the Assembly’s continuous efforts to promote fiscal discipline, improve accountability and ensure the efficient utilisation of public funds to support development and enhance service delivery.
They noted that while the achievement is a major milestone, the Assembly remains committed to addressing identified gaps and implementing further reforms to strengthen its financial management systems.
The Assembly also performed strongly at the regional level, placing third in the Oti Region with a score of 87.40 per cent in the 2025 assessment, reinforcing its reputation as one of the region’s best-managed local authorities.
Officials expressed confidence that the national recognition would motivate staff and stakeholders to sustain high standards of financial discipline, institutional efficiency and good governance as the Assembly continues to pursue its local development agenda.
