Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, has called on the party’s newly elected constituency executives to shift their focus from internal contests to preparations for the 2028 general election.
In a statement signed by his spokesperson, Dr. Palgrave Boakye-Danquah, Chairman Wontumi said the successful conclusion of the nationwide constituency executive elections marked the beginning of the party’s next phase of rebuilding and mobilisation.
He urged the newly elected executives to prioritise unity, strengthen grassroots structures and intensify engagement with party supporters across their constituencies.
“The real work begins now,” he stated, stressing that the executives had a responsibility to unite members, heal divisions that may have emerged during the elections and position the party for electoral success.
Chairman Wontumi congratulated all the successful candidates and commended delegates for conducting themselves peacefully throughout the electoral process.
He also expressed appreciation to the Electoral Commission, the party’s election committees and the security services for ensuring a peaceful and credible exercise.
Turning his attention to the Ashanti Region, he described it as the “engine room” and “world bank” of the NPP and challenged constituency executives to work tirelessly to deliver more than 85 per cent of the party’s votes in the 2028 general election.
He further encouraged the executives to protect the image of the NPP, strengthen party cohesion and actively promote the vision and policies of the party’s flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
Chairman Wontumi assured the newly elected executives of his full support and called on all party members, regardless of the outcome of the internal elections, to put aside their differences and work collectively towards returning the NPP to power in the 2028 general election.
