Arsenal’s pursuit of Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes has emerged as one of the biggest developments of the summer transfer window, with reports indicating that the two clubs have reached an agreement in principle over a deal worth 90 million euros (£77 million).
The Brazilian midfielder, 28, has been a key figure for Newcastle and would represent a major addition to Mikel Arteta’s squad if the move is completed.
Meanwhile, Inter Milan are stepping up their recruitment drive in England. The Serie A club have reportedly increased their interest in Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones, with a bid of £30 million for the 25-year-old England international. Liverpool, however, are said to value Jones at £35 million.
Inter are also facing complications in their pursuit of Tottenham defender Cristian Romero. Negotiations have stalled over the Argentina international’s personal terms, prompting his representatives to explore potential opportunities in Spain.
According to reports, Real Madrid, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid are all monitoring the situation surrounding the 28-year-old centre-back.
Elsewhere, AC Milan have made contact with Arsenal regarding a possible move for highly rated teenage winger Ethan Nwaneri. The 19-year-old is regarded as one of Arsenal’s brightest young talents.
In Spain, uncertainty continues to surround the future of Vinicius Jr. Real Madrid are reportedly unwilling to improve their latest contract renewal offer to the Brazilian forward and could consider selling the 26-year-old if a new agreement cannot be reached.
Newcastle are also close to strengthening their goalkeeping department, with the club reportedly nearing a £25 million deal for Braga goalkeeper Lukas Hornicek.
At Championship level, Hull City face competition from Leeds United and West Ham for the signing of Ivorian midfielder Amadou Kone, while West Ham are pushing to sign Morgan Whittaker from Middlesbrough before the new Premier League season begins.
Middlesbrough, meanwhile, are close to completing a deal worth up to £5.6 million for Columbus Crew wing-back Max Arfsten.
Wolves have also been active in the market, rejecting an approach from Real Sociedad for Czech defender Ladislav Krejci, signalling their intention to keep the 27-year-old at Molineux.
