Former Member of Parliament for Choggu/Tishigu and ex-Minister for Food and Agriculture, Ibrahim Adam, has died, according to reports.
The veteran politician and animal scientist leaves behind a long record of public service spanning Ghana’s agricultural and political sectors.
Ibrahim Adam served as Agriculture Secretary before becoming Minister for Food and Agriculture under the administration of former President Jerry John Rawlings.
He subsequently entered Parliament, representing the Choggu/Tishigu Constituency from 1997 to 2001.
His contribution to Ghana’s agricultural sector extended beyond his ministerial responsibilities. He later served as Board Chairman of the Agricultural Development Bank, where he continued to play a role in the management of a key institution supporting the country’s agricultural economy.
His death is therefore being regarded as a significant loss to Ghana’s political and agricultural communities, particularly among colleagues and associates who worked with him during his years in public service.
Tributes have begun pouring in following news of his passing.
However, details surrounding his death, including the cause and circumstances, have not yet been officially disclosed.
Further information is expected to be released by his family and relevant authorities as arrangements for his final farewell take shape.
