The New Patriotic Party (NPP) is expected to complete the formal inauguration of its newly elected national leadership today, Tuesday, October 6, with Henry Nana Boakye and Nana Akomea set to take their oaths of office as Second and Third Vice Chairmen respectively.
The two executives will be sworn in during the first meeting of the party’s newly elected national officers following the National Delegates Congress and National Officers’ Elections held in Kumasi on Saturday, October 3.
Their formal assumption of office will complete the swearing-in process for the new national executive team elected to steer the affairs of the party following the congress.
Nana Akomea confirmed the arrangement in an interview with JoyNews, explaining that although he and Nana Boakye were unable to participate in the swearing-in ceremony held immediately after the elections, they would take the oath at the executives’ first meeting.
“We have our first meeting on Tuesday, I think. Our first meeting as new executives and I am sure I will get myself sworn in,” he said.
Henry Nana Boakye, popularly known as Nana B, was elected Second Vice Chairman, while Nana Akomea secured the position of Third Vice Chairman.
Kwadwo Fosu Boadu was elected First Vice Chairman after defeating Nana Akomea and Nana Boakye in the contest for the position.
The elections at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi brought together delegates from across the country to elect a new crop of national officers as the NPP reorganises its leadership ahead of the next phase of its political activities.
The swearing-in of Nana Boakye and Nana Akomea is therefore expected to formally bring all three vice chairmen into office and complete the leadership structure mandated to work with the party’s newly elected national executives.
