Former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has called on members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to close ranks and work collectively towards the party’s return to government in the 2028 general elections.
His appeal follows the conclusion of the party’s 2026 National Annual Delegates Conference in Kumasi, which ushered in a new team of national executives.
Nana Akufo-Addo said the end of the conference should not mark the conclusion of the party’s internal activities but rather the beginning of a renewed mobilisation towards the next general elections.
“The conclusion of the Conference must mark the beginning of the progressive march of the Party’s collective aspirations as ‘One Party, with One Purpose, United for Victory,’” he said in a social media post.
He urged party members to put aside differences and commit themselves to the collective objective of winning the 2028 presidential and parliamentary elections.
“The time has come for all hands on deck so that the Party can emerge victorious from the 2028 presidential and parliamentary elections,” he said.
Nana Akufo-Addo said a return to power would pave the way for a new NPP administration under the leadership of the party’s presidential candidate, Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia.
He said the administration would be expected to promote the rule of law and improve the welfare of ordinary Ghanaians.
The former President concluded his message by invoking God’s blessings on the NPP and Ghana as the party begins preparations for the 2028 elections.
