Raymond Archer has been confirmed as the substantive Executive Director of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO), formalising his leadership of the state investigative agency after more than a year in an acting capacity.
The appointment took effect on October 27, 2026, according to EOCO Board Chairman Daniel Domelevo, who confirmed that Mr Archer officially assumed the substantive position on that date.
Mr Archer has served as acting Executive Director since August 2025, when he was appointed to replace the then head of EOCO, Abdulai Bashiru Dapilah.
A former investigative journalist, Mr Archer takes on the substantive role at an institution mandated to investigate and prosecute economic and organised crimes, including money laundering, human trafficking and other related offences.
His confirmation is expected to provide continuity in the leadership of the Office as it pursues its mandate to protect Ghana’s financial and economic interests.
Mr Archer’s tenure so far has attracted both praise and criticism. While some have commended his work at the Office, others have raised concerns about what they describe as a heavy-handed approach to its operations.
His substantive appointment places him at the helm of EOCO as scrutiny of its investigations and enforcement activities continues.
