A heated exchange unfolded on Peace FM’s Kokrokoo programme on February 23, 2025, as veteran journalist Kwesi Pratt and former NPP Communications Director Nana Akomea debated the dismissal of public sector workers by the current administration.
Pratt condemned the move but argued that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) had engaged in similar dismissals when in power, urging both parties to take a principled stance against such actions.
However, Akomea challenged Pratt, insisting that his position had been misrepresented.
He clarified that he also opposed politically motivated dismissals, regardless of which party was in power.
The debate escalated when Akomea demanded an apology from Pratt for misquoting him.
Pratt refused, dismissing the request as unnecessary, arguing that if they shared the same position, there was no need for an apology.
Their exchange highlighted broader concerns about political retaliations in Ghana’s governance and the recurring trend of dismissing public workers with each change in administration.
