Former President John Dramani Mahama has reaffirmed his commitment to reshaping Ghana’s economic landscape through bold, entrepreneur-focused policies aimed at unlocking business growth and revitalising local industries.
In a social media post reflecting on his interactions with business leaders during the Easter festivities in Kwahu, Mahama lauded the tenacity and drive of Ghanaian entrepreneurs and executives. He said their resilience in the face of economic challenges was proof that the private sector could thrive — with the right support.
“The energy and commitment I witnessed among CEOs, entrepreneurs, and financial leaders in Kwahu is a strong reminder that we must do more to support Ghanaian businesses,” Mahama stated.
Mahama stressed that empowering the private sector begins with crafting sound economic policies — ones that eliminate bottlenecks, increase access to capital, and reduce the cost of doing business.
“We need to unlock opportunities, not just talk about them. That requires serious policy decisions that translate hard work into measurable results for entrepreneurs,” he said.
He positioned entrepreneurship as the engine of economic renewal, adding that a comprehensive “reset” of Ghana’s economic structure is necessary to ensure inclusive and sustainable development.
The former president’s remarks come as part of a broader narrative about resetting Ghana’s economy to create a more enabling environment for innovation, investment, and job creation. He has consistently argued that rebuilding economic confidence and local industry strength will require more than just short-term fixes.
“I am determined to reset Ghana — not just to stabilise it, but to ensure that our entrepreneurs have the space and resources they need to succeed,” he reiterated.
Mahama’s message resonates with growing calls from business associations and youth entrepreneurs for a more deliberate national agenda focused on enterprise development, access to financing, and structural reforms.
