Eric Twum, a member of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) communication team, has strongly rejected claims that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s ongoing Thank You Tour is deepening divisions within the party. In response to concerns raised by party figure Boakye Kyerematen Agyarko, Twum denied any signs of internal discord, insisting that the tour is still aligned with its goal of reinforcing grassroots support.
Agyarko, on April 28, had expressed concern that the tour was diverging from its intended purpose, warning that it could inadvertently stoke tensions and foster a blame game within the party. He urged the leadership to refocus the tour on unity and reconciliation to prevent any further fallout.
However, Twum, speaking on Channel One TV’s Breakfast Daily on April 29, vehemently dismissed these claims. “There is no disunity. The people who want to see the disunity are probably the ones orchestrating it,” Twum said. He further added that some of the individuals raising alarms may have ulterior motives and could be contributing to the very division they claim to decry.
Twum’s remarks emphasized that any talk of disunity was unwarranted, especially as some of the critics had previously played a role in suspending key party figures. He challenged these voices, stating that their sudden outcry was a reaction to Bawumia’s successful tour rather than any actual internal rifts.
According to Twum, the party remains united, and there are no undercurrents of discontent that warrant concern. “There is nothing untoward happening anywhere,” he concluded.
