Former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has been seen engaging with two former government appointees currently under investigation for major corruption allegations, sparking fresh public interest in the ongoing cases.
The meeting took place during an Iftar gathering, where the former President interacted with Abdul Hanan Aludiba and Mustapha Ussif, both of whom are facing separate allegations linked to financial misconduct during their time in office.
Aludiba, a former CEO of the National Food and Buffer Stock Company, has been charged by Attorney-General Dominic Ayine alongside four others over alleged financial crimes involving more than GH¢65 million. The charges include stealing, money laundering, and causing financial loss to the state, with prosecutors claiming funds meant for food supply contracts were diverted to private entities.
In a related development, Ussif—who previously served as Director-General of the National Service Authority—has been cited as a central figure in an alleged GH¢548 million payroll fraud scheme. Investigators claim the operation involved the insertion of ghost names into the payroll system, with payments processed through Ghana Interbank Payment and Settlement Systems.
According to the Attorney-General, the alleged scheme depended on high-level authorisation, stressing that such activities could not have occurred without leadership approval. Although Ussif is yet to be formally charged, he is among several current and former officials expected to face prosecution.
The developments continue to raise concerns about accountability and oversight in public institutions, as investigations into both cases intensify.
