Arsenal FC have been backed to overcome Paris Saint-Germain in a potential UEFA Champions League showdown, with attention turning to a decisive tactical battleground: set-pieces.
Former England defender Rio Ferdinand believes that while PSG may currently look like the more complete side under manager Luis Enrique, their defensive frailties in dead-ball situations could prove costly at the highest level.
Ferdinand highlighted that Arsenal have developed into one of the most dangerous teams in the Premier League from corners and free-kicks, suggesting that this could be the area where knockout matches are ultimately decided.
He also praised PSG’s fluid attacking style, describing them as one of the most entertaining teams in Europe, but warned that their vulnerability when defending set-pieces has already been exposed in major matches.
With fine margins expected to define a tight contest, the former defender believes Arsenal’s efficiency from dead-ball situations could swing momentum in their favour if they consistently force PSG into defensive pressure in those moments.
