The Central Regional Minister, Mr Ekow Panyin Okyere Eduamoah, has inspected a number of ongoing and completed development projects in the Assin South District as part of efforts to assess the impact of government investments in the area.
The inspection formed part of the government’s **“Accounting to the People Tour”**, an initiative introduced by President John Dramani Mahama to promote transparency and accountability in the utilisation of public resources and the implementation of development projects.
Accompanied by officials of the Central Regional Coordinating Council, Mr Eduamoah undertook a physical verification of projects across the district, assessing completed facilities as well as projects still under construction.
The exercise covered key sectors including education, healthcare, water and sanitation, roads and social interventions.
Among the completed projects inspected were three-unit classroom blocks at Assin Adiembra and Assin Tutuda, a health centre at Assin Nkubem, a mechanised borehole at Assin Adankwaman Senior High School, and hand-pump boreholes at Nyamebekyere and Tumfokro.
The Regional Minister also inspected uncompleted projects, including a two-unit classroom block at Assin Dadeaso and a health centre at Assin Appiakrom.
Other government interventions reviewed during the tour included road reshaping works, the distribution of furniture to the District Education Directorate and the provision of support items to persons with disabilities.
As part of the exercise, Mr Eduamoah commissioned a three-unit classroom block at Assin Adiembra, describing the facility as an important intervention towards improving the teaching and learning environment.
He also commissioned a Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound at Assin Dominase to improve access to basic healthcare services for residents in the community and surrounding areas.
Mr Eduamoah commended the Assin South District authorities for their efforts in implementing development projects and urged residents to support initiatives aimed at improving infrastructure and social services.
He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to fulfilling its development promises, particularly in education, healthcare, roads and other critical sectors.
According to him, sustained investment in these areas remains essential to improving living conditions and expanding access to basic services for communities across the region.
The District Chief Executive for Assin South, Mr Jonathan Birikorang, presented an overview of projects undertaken in the district.
His presentation covered interventions in education, healthcare and road infrastructure, highlighting projects that had been completed as well as others at various stages of implementation.
Mr Birikorang reiterated the district’s commitment to working with the central government to improve infrastructure and expand social services for residents.
The inspection forms part of the government’s broader accountability drive, with physical verification of projects expected to provide a clearer assessment of how public investments are translating into development outcomes at the local level.
