Ghana U17 Women’s National Team have taken a significant step toward World Cup qualification after securing a commanding 2-0 away victory over Togo U17 Women’s Team in the first leg of their FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup qualifier.
Playing at the Stade de Kégué, Ghana delivered a composed performance, controlling much of the game and limiting the hosts’ attacking chances.
The breakthrough came early, with Priscilla Mensah finishing off a well-worked team move in the 16th minute to give the visitors the lead. Ghana maintained their dominance throughout the first half, dictating the pace and keeping Togo on the back foot.
Mensah sealed the victory in the second half, netting her second goal in the 64th minute to put Ghana firmly in control of the tie.
The result gives the Black Maidens a comfortable two-goal cushion heading into the return leg, scheduled for April 18 at the Accra Sports Stadium.
With home advantage and momentum on their side, Ghana will be aiming to finish the job and secure progression to the next stage of the qualifiers.
