BOST Energies Limited Company (BOSTenergies) has paid its first-ever dividend to the Government of Ghana, 32 years after its establishment, following a significant improvement in its financial performance in 2025.
The company paid GH¢34.2 million to the government, representing five per cent of its net profit for the 2025 financial year.
The historic payment was announced at the company’s 2026 Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Accra, where shareholders, the Board, Management and other stakeholders reviewed its financial and operational performance.
The dividend marks a significant turnaround for BOSTenergies and reflects the company’s strengthened financial position, improved profitability and efforts to create greater value for its shareholder.
For the 2025 financial year, the company recorded revenue of GH¢3.81 billion, representing a 195 per cent increase over the previous year.
Profit After Tax also rose by 72 per cent to GH¢683.96 million, while total assets increased by 50 per cent to GH¢3.99 billion.
Shareholder equity more than doubled to GH¢1.47 billion, while administrative expenses declined by 28 per cent, reflecting efforts to improve cost control and operational efficiency.
The performance positions BOSTenergies as one of the state-owned enterprises making significant progress in strengthening its balance sheet and improving its contribution to government finances.
Building a stronger energy business
Managing Director of BOSTenergies, Mr Afetsi Awoonor, described 2025 as a defining year for the company, saying the results demonstrated the impact of commercial discipline, prudent financial management and operational efficiency.
“2025 was a defining year for BOSTenergies. We delivered strong financial growth, strengthened our balance sheet and achieved the significant milestone of declaring our first-ever dividend to the Government of Ghana,” he said.
Mr Awoonor said the company would build on the gains by strengthening its operations, improving efficiency and enhancing resilience while creating sustainable value for its shareholder and other stakeholders.
He said BOSTenergies would continue to leverage its strategic infrastructure, commercial capabilities and evolving energy portfolio to support Ghana’s energy security and respond to changes in the energy landscape.
“We will continue to play our part in ensuring Ghana’s energy security while positioning BOSTenergies for sustainable growth and long-term relevance,” he added.
The Minister of Energy and Green Transition, Dr John Abdulai Jinapor, commended the Board, Management and staff for what he described as a strong performance in financial growth, profitability, operational efficiency and portfolio expansion.
He urged the company to remain focused and build on the gains achieved, pledging his support to its Board and Management.
The Director-General of the State Interests and Governance Authority (SIGA), Prof Michael Kpesah Whyte, also welcomed the company’s turnaround, particularly its first dividend payment since its establishment.
He urged the Board and Management to maintain the momentum and pursue further growth while continuing to deliver value to the government.
The 2026 AGM therefore provided an opportunity for BOSTenergies to highlight its improved financial position and set out its plans to consolidate the gains and strengthen its role in Ghana’s downstream energy sector.
